Longmorn-Glenlivet 24 year old (Cadenheads)

Bottle: Cadenheads authentic collection standard.

Nose: Cream, banana, vanilla and syrup.

Body: Silky and light.

Palate: That golden pear note that Longmorns seem to carry so well, then spicy aniseed and plums finishing with some lemon icing. Delicious.

Finish: The sweetness of the palate becomes a more sour, herbal experience in the long finish that follows. The chink in it’s armor methinks.

Neat/Ice/Water: It’s 51.3% so goes down a little hot when drunk neat but it’s when you add a little ice that a fizzy sweetness come out and takes it up a notch.

Verdict: Quaffable. This was a birthday gift that I had been looking forward to opening for a while. It was passed on to a mate by another collector who was clearing out some stock apparently. Very limited outturn of 102 bottles.  Just checked and there are 6 left at Cadenheads in London. The nose and mouth are really nice especially with a drop of water or a bit of ice. The finish let’s it down a bit but overall a good dram.
