Springbank 12 Cask Strength

Bottle: Standard distillery bottle.

Nose: Cocktail cherry, sour apple, gherkin, sugar syrup. Yummy.

Body: Medium.

Palate: Rich and spicy. Barley sugar, blueberries, rock salt, cayenne pepper. A dash of water adds a really nice extra layer of sweetness to it and tones down the burn.

Finish: A touch ashy with a stable, lingering gradual decline of the palate flavours. No real transformation at this point but a very pleasant fade nonetheless.

Neat/Ice/Water: It’s a little hot when sipped neat as it’s bottled at 53.8% cask strength.

Verdict: Superior. This is very nice stuff I have to say. I first got a sample of this from a mate last year and really liked it. Out of several mini’s, this was the one which stood out. It was sold out everywhere but Amazon had a single bottle left and so I had to pull the trigger… It’s another accomplished delivery from Springank. Very well balanced and highly tasty. It’s missing  a wow factor but that’s the only thing. Very good value for money, would easily buy again.
