Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve

Glenlivet_FR_bs-200x300

Bottle: Regular issue Glenlivet.

Nose: Initially grassy then some barley sugar, boiled sweets and some sulphur like burnt matches. Not the greatest start.

Body: Medium and a little waxy.

Palate: Toffee and aniseed with a tinge of lime. It seems to have an ashy aftertaste though that isn’t particularly pleasant. This part ends badly I have to say.

Finish:  Mild chili, lime, cocoa powder and a little oak. The ash in the mouth factor continues though.

Neat/Ice/Water: Not sure it matters really…

Verdict: Avoid. I was wondering when this would happen. My first avoid on the site. This no age statement dram (tastes quite young) is flawed and fails to deliver adequate value for money in my opinion. Thankfully for me, I only got a half bottle, as a secret Santa present from my colleagues at work. Hopefully none of them follow the blog… Having said that, it’s probably still the best secret santa present I’ve ever received…
